The cost of custom window treatments can be slightly to significantly greater than 'store bought' window treatments. And while the increased cost is the only 'con' to this comparison, there are several significant 'pros', including better fit, greater selection, and higher quality.

For example, with store-bought treatments you do not get the custom fit that you do with custom treatments. You also do not receive installation, and if treatments are not installed correctly, it can significantly change the look of any window treatment, including the way the treatments hang.

Additional differences that exist include the many types of treatments available, along with the wide array of high quality fabrics. Custom treatments offer a vast line of assorted fabrics, sheers, and linings that you won't find with store-bought products.

Another reason for the difference in look of custom drapes is in the execution and quality of the sewing. Lastly, fabric, believe it or not, has a memory, and proper packaging is therefore important. Custom drapes are packaged in pleats that allow the fabric to hang correctly when they are installed. This really makes a difference, and your drapes will look 'complete' from the moment they are installed.
