Reinventing a Purpose for Your Dining Room

The dining room is a room often within a home that sees little or no activity. But there is sits looking pretty, but lonely as can be. It can be a lovely place to entertain that once or twice a year, but other than that it is often just sitting there, vacant of activity, waiting for its time to shine.

Families, nowadays , eat in their kitchens. Many kitchens are designed now with the large multi-useful island that provides sitting areas as well, so it might be good to come up with a use for your dining room when it isn’t being used to entertain. Often the area can be large enough to use for a den with the table incorporated in such a way as to use as a desk, or for activities like playing cards, coloring, jig-saw puzzles, computer work, etc. Another idea is to use it as a library area, using the table as a place to read, or do homework.

It is an area that can also double as a TV room. Just house the TV in an attractive cabinet that possibly can double as a serving table when you have people over for a buffet dinner or the like. By moving the dining table to various areas against a wall, or behind a sofa, you can create a functional space to incorporate your needs. We all wish we had another room or two in our house, this is that extra room without the expense of adding on. The next time you are standing outside your dining room looking in, let the creative wheels turn, and reinvent your space.

Let me know if you have reinvented your dining room space already, or what you may be thinking of doing with your space. We would love you to share your creative ideas with us. You can even send us before and after photos of the changes you have made, and we will post them on this website.
